Tom Rogerson might be familiar to you for his lightning keyboard runs in Three Trapped Tigers, but here he works in a different milieu and with a different collaborator: Brian Eno himself. At the core of Finding Shore is a device that converts acoustic piano performance into MIDI, allowing Eno to weave electronics around Rogerson’s melodies. Released by Dead Oceans.

This album was such a nice surprise. While I was initially interested due to the Brian Eno credit, I quickly learned that Tom Rogerson is an amazing talent. This sparse and beautiful piano album grabs you with the first 3 tracks and then takes you to new sounds and landscapes. On track 3 " On-Ness" there is a moment in the first 3 minutes that is absolutely perfect. This album reminds me of late 70's / early 80's Eno Ambient albums, especially Music for Airports though this is not nearly as sparse.
