Classic Cash from 1968! I Walk The Line actually features re-recorded versions of various songs that were already favourites by this point, such as the title track, originally recorded in 1958. Johnny was still in very fine form at this point, and I Walk The Line makes for a great early hits collection. Reissued on vinyl by Columbia.

A mix of re-recordings of songs that Johnny had recorded previously, plus songs that he hadn't previously recorded, although even those weren't all new songs. The new songs were Bad news (a top ten country hit as a B-side), Understand your man (a #1 country hit), Still in town (later covered by Bob Dylan, Goodbye little darlin' goodbye (co-written by Gene Autry) and Troublesome waters (later covered by Iris DeMent). The re-recordings were I still miss someone (which Johnny had already recorded before for Columbia) and the rest are five that he had originally recorded for Sun.
