Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam are a pair of cousins who reside in sunny Melbourne. Inspired by James Blake, The xx and Lauryn Hill they make electro-pop as Kllo. Whilst the music is grounded in pop tradition, their use of UK Garage, 2-Step and R&B seamlessly fuses the old and the new. Backwater is available on LP and CD with a limited indies-only grey vinyl version if you’re quick enough!

R&B as if encased in souffle. It's a crowded genre.
Kllo are a duo from sunny Melbourne who make pleasant electronic pop music that takes influences from the charts of 2006 and blankets them in fog. They utilise their interests in garage and 2 step to create pop vignettes that probably wouldn't get on the radio because they are too soft on the ears, but are still lovely. The melancholy drenched tunes remind you of that time His Name Is Alive made an R&B record. It charms: vocalist Chloe Kaul has a voice like the softest duvet and neath it glitchy electronics that dance around minimal tunes, never trying to break the sound barrier.
Hints of your Machinedrum style production are in evidence in the way it looks to distant dance for inspiration, but mainly it creates a kind of twilit electronic pop that you could wrap around yourself when it gets cold.
