Byron Westbrook’s follows his 2015 debut album on Root Strata with a belter for Hands In The Dark. ‘Body Consonance’ opens with the frantic ‘Dance In Free Fall’ an ecstatic energizer that’s akin to being blasted into hyperspace. ‘What We Mean When We Say Body Language’ follows and builds with magnificent intensity. The ascending synth has me soaring into a swirling kaleidoscope. This is psychedelic music in the truest sense - three dimensional shapes, strange geometries and an infinite colour spectrum grow from the sounds before my very eyes. ‘Levitation Game’ takes a leaf or two from ye olde book of Terry Riley with its wonderful synth/organ sounding like some ancient/futuristic language. ‘Ritual Geometry / Sympathetic Bodies’ is like taking a swim in bubbling fluorescent neon pink liquid. ‘Fireworks Choreography’ is pretty tranquil as it begins droning and builds into an amazing binaural experience where it feels like gargantuan buzzing insects or spacecraft are actually hovering around me. Totally freaked my cat out.
