The original edition of Brazil was released as four cassettes. Therefore this 2LP reissue, gathering together all four parts, is very necessary. Brazil is the work of three Scandinavian electronic wizards - Hvide Sejl (Loke Rahbek), Varg and F. Valentin. Over the four sides expect to hear the span of electronic to organic: sun-kissed ambience, industrial pounding, and works on synth and piano.

Welcome to “Brazil”. I “hope” you have a nice “time”. With all the air-quotes in the world, Posh Isolation reissue this gorgeous collection crossing over the disciplines of the Scandinavian artists Hvide Sejl, Varg and F. Valentin. Though the Posh Isolation aesthetic M.O. always feels pretty clear -- I once saw this description graffitied on my local’s toilet wall -- it never actually lands in one place. this trio all make quite marked contrasts from one another and even contradict their internal practices, making for a record that’s lush, shrill and everything in between.
Initially released as a quadruple cassette, the LP edition of “Brazil” offers listeners a chance to take in their work as one ruminative and shrieking mass. Bitty noise with barbed wire industrial is mixed in with the kind of warm, canvassing drone shimmers that sound environmentally empty -- they’re mixed with noises that suggest something natural without necessarily delivering on it, the effects and samples slowly buffering imitation ecosystems.
Certain moments of tumultuous composition on “Brazil” remind me of recent Posh Isolation attempts at collaboration such as Body Sculptures, where noisemakers come together to practice restraint amidst the dissonance. All bundled into one package, it’s a textural behemoth as good and grumpy as anything the label’s released.
