Alessio Natalizia (Not Waving) and Vittore Baroni, one of the founders of 80's Italian label Trax (not to be confused with the Chicago house label) have compiled this whopping 25-track 2LP on Natalizia's Ecstatic label. It covers the labels lifespan across the seven years it was operational between 1981-1987 and is rammed with DIY post-punk and new-wave rarities and obscurities, mostly originally issued on cassette. Tracks range from genius to ludicrous. It occupies the same space as that Mutazione compilation that came out on Strut a bit ago, but obviously the focus here is just on the Trax label. But if you dug that record you should check this out for sure, although I reckon this is probably weirder. Hear Merzbow as you’ve never heard him before, hear MA Phillips crude and deranged Righteous Brothers cover, a proper dark one from Colin Potter... There’s tons of stuff on here, The Cop Killers, E-Coli, Piermario Ciani, Die Form, Spirocheta Pergoli, Daniele Ciullini & Amok, Cancer, Nausea, etc. A really enjoyable history lesson, plus it comes with a nice 16-page booklet. If You dig Dark Entries, Mannequin, Minimal Wave etc. you should get stuck in.
