Furaha Wenye Gita by George Mukabi

Dropping in tandem with Don’t Sleep - an LP that focuses on the Omutibo style that George Mukabi helped to coin - this Mississippi/Rae Music/Olvido collaborative effort features twelve tracks from the Kenyan guitar maestro. Before his death in 1963, Mukabi’s effervescent finger-picking style had made him one of the most influential guitarists in East Africa. More than fifty years on, the quality of his playing and the brightness of his melodies make this music more than worthy of revisiting. Contains a 12-page booklet replete with Swahili/English lyrics as well as interviews with Mukabi’s family and friends.
