Straight outta Boston and almost impossible to google this band play the sort of slo-fi music comparable with Beach House and Mazzy Star but also have the wobbly jangle of large swathes of the Sarah Records back catalogue. Initially a home recording project, the Mini Dresses have already quietly amassed an impressive set of their dreamy pop songs.

Let me just read that bit on our site again. LP on.....Warners? You mean the big company that made Bugs Bunny etc? Odd because Mini Dresses are a fey trio whose music and glasses scream 'indie 7" label'. Their music wallows in the sort of sad that is generally unheard of in the mainstream. There's a touch of Beach House, a smidge of Galaxie 500, a soupcon of Low. 'Are You Real' though is the sort of track that has future cover version written all over it. A great track that is seemingly composed in some kind of K Records super computer by members of Beat Happening and Lois.
Mini Dresses have that interest in space that is also seen in Cigarettes After Sex records. They often let their songs strip back to a drums and guitar chug only to add lashings of spangling guitars in the chorus. Lira Mondal's voice is a technically limited squeak but it's lack of range works in the favour of the music. She sounds like Alison Statton and I'm ok with that.
It turns out the Warners thing was another stupid mistake on our part. It's actually on Joy Void records which ensures that everything now slots into place. It should be on Warners though. It's good and needs to be heard.
