Here California's Sana Obruent makes a record that doesn't give our Clint nightmares, perhaps a musical direction more expected from someone living in the Sunshine State. While undoubtedly heavy on the drones, August feels like a whirlwind on possibility, while also sounding like the sky cracking and mountains moving. So that's the music they make when they're not soundtracking arctic deaths.

8/10 Clinton Staff review, 06 September 2017

Sana Obruent aka San Francisco's Paul Lopez makes music that is so far removed from his place of living that it is almost hard to reconcile. He must have very thick black out blinds to make music like this in the sunshine state. His last album 'Dyatlov' soundtracked the strange story of some skiers who went missing in 1959. This one seems to soundtrack a huge glacier moving at snails pace across the coldest and bleakest place on earth.

My word it's cold. These are huge one note monolithic slabs that churn in slow motion. The easiest sound comparison I guess would be GAS but hey  - no beats. This simply relies on slow churn but creates some incredible atmospheres that seep out of the speakers and seemingly take over the room.

Unrelentingly miserable but rather beautiful. Perfect music for when Kim Jong Un/Trump destroy the world.
