Somewhere between the slick and tight production of The Black Dog, the summer filled electronica of Plaid and Paranerd cites indie pop-rockers The Super Friendz as a major influence. Mixing delightful pop melodies with all hardware upbeat electronica and a dash of early detroit techno. Released through Touched, in support of the Macmillan Cancer charity.
7/10 Clinton Staff review, 31 August 2017
All done in the name of charidee (Macmillan Cancer) this is the latest release of 90s style electronica on Touched music. There's nothing groundbreaking here - nothing that would ever get on the release schedule of Planet Mu or even modern day Warp but what we do have is unpretentious bouncy electronica that brings back to mind the golden days of Plaid and Black Dog and even Autechre before they got too weird. It's full of cheesy but heartfelt synth lines, skittering drum patterns and warm synth pads which on the slow burning 'Bellint' have a nicely Balearic texture to them whilst 'Froz' has the bouncing arpeggios and slightly orchestral flavours of prime time U-ziq.
Classic old school electronics. Just 100 copies and for a good cause.
