Thy lord cometh. John Carpenter’s themes to his genre spanning and defining films are defining in themselves, with countless contemporary artists taking influence from them. This collection takes basically all of his biggest themes from his films including Halloween, Big Trouble In Little China, Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York, They Live, and The Thing. LP on Sacred Bones.

All the classics are here of course. And if you, like me, can't afford to remortgage the house to buy the vast array of John Carpenter reissues on elaborately packaged coloured vinyl then it might be worth picking up this collection of his best known soundtrack scores. All have been re-recorded, but I can't really tell the difference, and it's a hugely satisfying collection. The influence that Carpenter has had on horror soundtracks can't be underestimated, so what better way to see what all the fuss is. Well worth it!
