Four years since their last record, Rhode Island based Deer Tick drop two at the same time, each showing a vastly different side of the band’s coin. Vol. 1 is their more stripped back, mellower acoustic side. 10 thoughtful, engaging tracks for the lazy, lonely afternoon.LP and CD released through Partisan.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 8th March 2018

This double album idea is ambitious yet really works here. I am usually a sucker for acoustic stuff, I do love this one, but actually prefer the electric one a bit more. John's writing is both introspective and clever. My favorite songs by him here are Cocktail and SMF. Only Love shows a lot of artistic growth as well. I've always liked how the band has allowed song contributions from both O'Neil and Ryan. They have both grown a great deal over the years. Some of the best songs they have ever written and their instrumentals are off the chain.
