Absolutely no relation to the Spencer Davis Group, this instead is the luther Davis Group whose disco classic 'You Can Be A Star' has been re-edited by Daphni (aka Caribou). Though he did this primarily for his Fabric mix and to play out in his DJ sets but now you can get it on lovely 12" vinyl with hand-screened sleeve.

- You Can Be A Star (Daphni Edit) by Luther Davis Group
Bit of a corker this one and thanks must go out to Daphni for bringing it to our attention. He's been playing it in his DJ set of late and it's obviously gone down so well that he's done a re-edit and slapped it out on vinyl. It's a beaut. Brilliant '70s discotheque with a happy horns, propulsive rhythms and a brilliantly infectious chorus blast. The vocals are lovingly worn and have the cracked sound of a man who has lived a little, telling everyone to do the same.
The original is a corker, Daphi's re-edit doesn't do much apart from add some flange to the mix, add in a bit of extra percussion and toy with the dynamics a bit. Both versions sound great so just play either ...or both as we did yesterday until Phil complained about a slab of sunshine interjecting his miserable world view.
