- Science & Technology by Raskovich
Finders Keepers / Demdike Stare folks Dead-Cert label have rescued this dazzling 1972 LP from obscurity. Originally issued in 1972 as ‘Scienza E Tecnologia - N.1’ and now remastered with new artwork. Raskovish was an alias of revered Italian composer Giuliano Sorgini who back then created an astounding album of otherworldly sound that’s light years ahead of most of the often kitsch Library music that was around, and is currently being reissued.
As I was listening to this, one of my offspring entered the room and grumbled “Dad, why do you listen to this?”. Now, considering some of the weird shit that child's ears have been exposed to over the years -- that they keep silent about, for them to get vocal about this, tells me this rates pretty highly on the child weird-ometer. Listening again, I can confirm that this record is utterly zoned. The title gives some indication as to the realms in which it takes the listener, but this is certainly not the sort of twee Ghost Box style, hauntological, memories of science documentaries at school sorta vibe. This is more of a ‘you have been shrunken into a single cell and are floating around the universe’ and beyond deal. Incredible stuff.
