Sub Pop are reissuing a number of out of print Afghan Whigs vinyl and Up In It has not been available for over 25 years on the format. The 1990 album was the band’s second full length LP and became a must-play on college radio at the time. This album was the band’s debut on Sub Pop and the start of a long relationship between the band and the label.

Throughout the 1990s, The Afghan Whigs were pretty much unstoppable, and Up In It, the band's second album, but the first on Sub Pop, was where it all began. While it may not be the best-produced release in their back-catalogue, the songs on this album are a fair bit heavier than their later works and I'd say it ranks under Gentlemen and Black Love, but not by a huge amount. It contains some pretty good songs such as "Retarded", "White Trash Party" and "Amphetamines and Coffee", while the second half shows a bit more maturity in their songwriting, especially on "Hey Cuz" and "I Know Your Little Secret". If you enjoy having stuff yelled at you over fuzzy guitars, this is right up your street, but if you enjoy their later works, it may not be for you, but it will give you an insight into Afghan Whigs' raw beginnings.
