Egyptian producer Ahmed El Ghazoly returns to Lee Gamble’s UIQ label for another EP, of restless electronics, and it’s a belter. Opening with what I can only describe as a stuttering Egyptian Grime mutant with the creepy groove of ‘Bow’. Then onto the swerving, unconventional techno of ‘CommProto’ and the hallucinatory vocal manipulations of ‘She’s Hearing Voices’. The juddering beats on ‘What To Do’ feel like their being launched out of a cannon and into a melting rave that’s simultaneously being zapped by a giant lazer raygun. ‘Tongue Chomper’ sounds fractured and attempting to rebuild itself into its original state. Closing track ‘Foam Home’ sounds like it’s dripping off the turntable as runny liquid melts into bubbling pools of gooey ectoplasm.
