Adam Feingold (1080p/Apron Records) brings cosmic ambience, and a chilled balearic tone to his experimental house as Ex-Terrestrial. It’s blissed out, odd, futuristic and just damn nice. Chilled vibes on the sea of tranquility shores. Features saxophonist Emmanuel Thibau. Six track 12” on Temple.

7/10 Staff review, 06 September 2017

I can't quite get my head round what this is. It's simple rudimentary synth and drum machine soft shoe shuffle with the added 'bonus' of a saxophone at work. The sax doesn't appear until second track bowed glass and I have to admit it's quite effective. The song reminds me of throwing open the curtains on a sparkling sunny morning and playing a saxophone at the window.  The music has a very soundtracky feel  - I'm thinking Miami Vice, Midnight Caller. It's late at night in your office  - you are trying to finish a case, the neon lights twinkle through the blinds. Someone is hoovering.

I've just seen Ex Terrestrial's previous record described as chillbient. A word that makes me want to eat my own head off. But it kind of is - its laid back twinkly and disconcerting. You just know that something terrible is going to happen in that industrial unit.

Good but...and I never thought I'd say this....more sax?
