- Bene's World by Benedek

Wooze merchant Nicky Benedek simmers in the LA sun and then makes dance tunes for the contentedly exhausted. That’s how I imagine it goes, anyway: ‘Bene’s World’, with its deep bass incisions, sauntering keyboard melodies and boogie vibe, is a beautiful throwback to a time when everything glimmered. If you need to know just how good a time this is, please note that the third track has “Sax edit” in its name.
It sounds delightfully dizzy, all of it: the disco beams of “Westin” are coupled with chords that sound like they’re coming undone as they reach their destination. The low-key and obscured affectations of “Ocean Park (feat. Just Tony)” offer a new age soundscape for Benedek to jump off of as he reaches, once again, for the wonky basslines, the G-funk grooves and the backroom saxophone solos. Can’t see you not having fun, is what I’m saying here.
