9/10 Tom Customer review, 22nd May 2018

One of the more underrated gems of the Britpop era, Super Furry Animals' second album Radiator took everything that was great about their debut Fuzzy Logic (scuzzy power-pop melodies, unique lyrical perspective, an experimental undercurrent) and multiplied it by ten. The result is a multi-coloured, vintage synth-layered smorgasbord of genius songwriting, combining anthemic rock songs with elements of folk, electronica, and psychedelia. On a label roster that included Oasis and Primal Scream, SFA's tales of KGB spies, Albert Einstein, small-town Welsh life were sadly overlooked, but while Oasis were selling out Knebworth, the Super Furries were turning up to music festivals in an actual army tank modified with a sound-system and I know which party I'd rather be at.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 10th July 2017

Radiator is one of the most difficult great albums I've heard. In fact, the first time I listened to it, I wasn't sure I liked it at all. There aren't as many instantly satisfying songs here as there are on Rings Around the World or even Fuzzy Logic, but this one's even more admirable because of its startling dynamism in separating the oil and water differences between their grinding, avant-garde electro expressionist aesthetic and their classically influenced passion for an infectious pop tune.
