Hissed out late night ambience from this Athens, Greece artist who promises to take you into a journey into the dark side of the city with this cassette release of churning soundscapes which have nods towards GAS or Celer but are altogether nastier. The soundtrack to being slightly scared after walking into the wrong alleyway.
8/10 Clinton Staff review, 04 July 2017
Actually what would you imagine our office to be like? Bearded music lovers quietly discussing the latest releases speaking in hushed reverential tones? Or a screaming, screeching cross between the Nathan Barley office and a toddlers birthday party led by the human equivalent of a bluebottle?
It now seems improbable that we once reviewed music in an open office with no headphones. Today I sit in the far corner of the room with industrial-sized. no leakage ear muffs trying to discern what the hell is going on. Yet incredibly people still want us. Groom In Vineyards is a rare case of an artist giving us their music for free so it gets onto the site but to be honest it sounds like the sort of stuff we'd sell anyway. It contains huge swathes of late night noise that has elements of techno in it but is more concerned with churning around like a particularly grey scale cement mixer. These twelve pieces take elements of Gas and similarly downcast beat making dudes and seem to make it into chunks of rock. It's dark, it's brutal but there's a beauty to these pieces which sometimes come across as a Boards of Canada who grew up locked in an industrial unit.
This is bleak industrial influenced electronica and techno that is probably a lot better than much of the music we actually pay for. Good stuff.
