Swedish producer Martin Abrahamsson has journeyed around electronica subgenres releasing on Drumcode, Neo Ouija, Sloboda, and now moves to B12 sub-label Firescope with an EP of older tracks that are sublime and fuzzy warm. A chilled abstracted beat middle ground between Iambic 5 Poetry Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada.

Remember when electronica was warm and bouncy? Phil does and that's why he once released a Bauri record on his now infamous Jonathon Whiskey imprint. Years later Bauri returns with the sorts of sounds that we once found on Aphex Twin and Plaid records. Delicious pads and synths jumping around skewered beats. Generally warm and inviting but with just the odd bit of discordance to keep you on your toes.
On 'Kirmumxyl' soft synth voices are used to create a billowing soundscape that creates a wonderfully evocative sound world that is somehow autumn-hued. Elsewhere crisp beats and tuneful buzzing synths recall Squarepusher at his most inviting.
No-one makes electronica like this no more and more's the shame. Grab this while you can if you want a return to the golden age of tuneful electronics - it's super friendly to ears.
