- Electro-Soma II by B12
8/10 Jack 5th March 2018
B12 personified the AI aesthetic fully; wholesale appropriation of Detroit techno with enough traces of Sheffield bleep and ambience to stamp the sound British. By now the original release of Electro-Soma has long succumbed to CD rot. Warp corrects the situation by augmenting the re-release with a second disc of mostly unheard tracks from the same period as the original album. Twenty-five years later it becomes absolutely apparent that one of the primary effects of the Artificial Intelligence series was to showcase white artists making black music.
