‘Unfolding The Future With Amateur Space Jazz’ was originally a cassette and CDr release on Danny Wolfers (Legowelt) own Nightwind label, and is now given the vinyl treatment it deserves. The title somewhat suggets the vibe of this album - cosmic, slightly jazzy ambient in the vein of his fantasy soundtrack work, or as he puts it “a Lo-Fi Minimal Wavish version of Cosmic Space Jazz and anything closely related to it...from spiritual soul, G-FUNK, Ethiopian jazz to ambient and everything in between...”

He deploys his arsenal of digital synthesizers and uses multi-tracking to create a sort of one man band - where the players are multidimensional copies of himself. As with all things Danny Wolfers, it still retains his trademark, warm sound and really sparkles with lush melodies and immersive atmosphere - so clearly not a Legowelt production -- yet totally recognizable as his work. There’s no shortage of pretty twinkles and chimes throughout, with darker more sinister moments coming in the form of ‘Clandestine Convention’ and ‘Improvisation On A Cosmic Car’ which has the feel of his Squadra Blanco record. There are a few beats scattered here and there, as heard on the laidback, dreamy ‘Prophecy Dusting’ and sunshine funk of ‘Scenic Highway System’. Wolfers really brings his lifetime of immersion in fantasy and science fiction to paint brilliantly vivid, ultra-chill, futuristic utopias that make for some enjoyable, light-hearted escapism.
