- Stack Music by Konrad Sprenger
Joerg Hiller aka Konrad Sprenger uses computer-controlled multi-channel electric guitar. informed by the American primitive movement he creates beautifully layered string tapestries. Think the blissful, pastoral sounds of John Fahey, subtly sequenced with custom algorithms. Folk meets computer music does sound somewhat horrible on paper, but he executes with real finesse. ‘Stack Music is far from the horrible glitchy type of sound I had anticipated - he employs the computer to do what the hands can’t and remains respectful to the authenticity of the sound that’s inspired him on the first track ‘Opening’ while taking it somewhere else entirely by the time we get to the closing track ‘Largo’. There are moments that also remind me a wee bit of Catherine Christer Hennix’s ‘The Electric Harpsichord’ too which can only ever be a good thing.
