7/10 Robin Staff review, 15 June 2017

A down-the-line promise of no nonsense psychedelia here: much like a certain absolute boy’s political campaign, Lamagaia talk straight and cut to the heart of what they do, offering twenty-four minutes of spooky jamming over one single track. It’s about as simple as psych rock can be conceptualised, letting the eeking rhythm section do the talking and the guitars only a modicum of wahing.

As far as psych jams go, this one is slow and steady, favouring tightness of structure over incessant solo mayhem. In fact this is about as pleasant and placid as spacey jamming can get -- it gives each member different things to do without ever really letting them push it, with slight adjustments in timbre and rhythm bound to certain rules of thumb. At its heaviest crescendo, it just sounds quite nice -- and props to ‘em, because who knew I could feel like this while listening to psych rock?
