Well here is a beauty of a thing: Silver Apples classic 1968 debut album, reissued on ‘ultra-clear’ vinyl in a highly psychedelic trip of a coloured sleeve. Gorgeous as an object, and of course the album itself is absolutely crucial, mixing Simeon’s DIY synthesiser monster with Dan Taylor’s pulsing drums. Reissued by Rotorelief.

10/10 Jack Customer review, 6th June 2017
This album is one of the most influential albums in rock history. Way before Brian Eno, way before Fat Boy Slim, way before techno there were the Silver Apples. These albums are like Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica in that it takes a couple of listenings for the groove to sink in. Songs like "Oscillations" and "You and I" give witness to the birth of synthesised music. Ironically bands now program drum machines to sound like "real drummers". Silver Apples percussionist Dan Taylor's driving metronomic style is so precise that, if it weren't 1969, you'd swear he was a machine.
