30 copies seems like a criminally low edition for this tape. Yet having heard it, it might just be possible that only 30 rare human minds have the capacity to appreciate / tolerate the audio -  because this tape from Phil Julian (Entr'acte, Harbinger Sound, The Tapeworm etc.) aka Cheapmachines is the most spannered, demented, brain flosser I’ve heard in some time. A word does not exist in the English language to articulate just how fucking weird these tracks are. Yet the title ‘Clastics’ does offer a sort of onomatopoeia towards some of the crunchy/elastic electronic sonics on offer. However I’m assuming it refers to Clastic types of rocks. Taking that into account, it makes me imagine of rocks and minerals communicating in some sort of rock language outside the hearing range of human hearing. But the overwhelming feeling I get, is that as a slept last night some strange entity gave me an implant that has transformed my brain into rubber and unleashed a swarm of microscopic lifeforms that are now gnawing and chewing on said rubber brain - and it’s kinda freaking me out in the best possible way.

Fans of stuff by Dave Phillips, Spoils & Relics etc. should dig this truly bizzaro offering. But, please don’t ever listen to this tape on drugs, or you’re likely to end up in an institution.
