DangerDoom was the unexpected collaboration of underground rapper and legend MF DOOM and producer Danger Mouse who was mostly known at this point for the album he did with Jemini (Ghetto Pop Life) and for mashing the Beatles White Album with Jay-Z's Black Album to make the Grey Album (really good stuff). It was also released in cahoots with Adult Swim so there is plenty of interaction with and allusions to various Adult Swim cartoon characters. This is probably the most polished and conventional production that Doom has ever rapped over (having previously worked with the genius of sampling Madlib) and this gives him the freedom to go off on his multi-syllabic, internal-rhyme tangents to brilliant effect. This collection (released on Doom's own Metal Face Records) includes the DangerDoom Occult Hymn EP (for the first time on vinyl) and two unreleased tracks so it's well worth getting for the extra stuff alone, but the album is also one of the best things in Doom's catalogue anyway so just get it!
