This here EP is the debut (under this name anyway) of Irish producer LAIR, a multi-disciplinary artist, producer and singer. Plenty of dense drones to feast on here, plus some rhythm action in places. Three of LAIR’s tracks are featured here, and one of them also gets a remix by super-exciting producer Rrose! 12” on Dublin label Eotrax.

The second release on Ian McDonnell’s (half of Lakker aka Eomac) Eotrax label continues the spiritual path laid out on its first release ‘Temple Of The Jaguar’. However this 6-track EP, from Irish producer LAIR aka Laura Kilty and LuminouSounds, for the most part, shifts away from the dancefloor, and moves somewhere between the realms of drone and healing music.
‘Invoke’ opens with ritual chanting which is processed into droning layers - the feel like being transported to a clandestine, ancient, shamanic ceremony deep in the Amazon. ‘Meld’ has a more feminine, ethereal, angelic quality where the vocals are stretched into hovering, apparition like choral drones. The mighty Rrose (Sandwell District, Eaux) uses the source material for a steadily paced remix recalling the lost in the rainforest atmosphere of Ancestral Voices. ‘Searching In Circles’ and ‘Incant’ are both mysterious, captivating darker ambient cuts - again with a heavy ritual/devotional weight coming from the manipulated vocals. Finally, Rrose distills ‘Meld’ - on this occasion, omitting the beats and stripping it back to ghostly, gently fluttering blue drones with an eerie presence.
