From Night To Night is New Jackson’s first full-length album, and it pleasingly takes the proper approach of working to the album format rather than stringing together lots of 12”-suitable cuts. Make no mistake, much of this record is made up of clubtastic deep house tracks: but ambient passages and careful construction make it a proper listen all the way through. On All City.

You won't have been there but I can confirm that I really enjoyed the first track. I was just finishing off some other work whilst listening to it and its crystalline electronic pulse attracted my ears somewhat. It reminded me something of Darkstar the way it had a dark pulsing underbelly and emotionless vocals plonked on top. Also reminding me of Darkstar is 'Blaze All Day' but I'd also say that Mount Kimbie is springing to mind in the cut up vocals and warm synth sounds.
So there you have it. New Jackson write patient slow burning atmospheric electronica and segue it nicely with rather understated vocals. Generally they sound tired, with generally slow BPMs creating pulsing dark song-led electronics. It seems after a few tracks they lose a bit of confidence in this plan and add in some more clubby beats with a few ill-advised soundbites - I don't know what is happening in the middle of 'Found the One' but it's a bit frustrating. Still there's lots of promising stuff here.
