Huge swathes of ambient drone to wash over your ears now, from North Atlantic Drift -- duo Mike and Brad -- with their fourth album for Polar Seas recordings. Music to splash around in watercolours and watery inks, if the lovely artwork adorning the cd booklet is anything to go by.
The sounds steadily swell and drift, ebb and flow and swell again, with synth sounds as hazy as anything by Celer and as influenced by orchestral manoeuvres as Stars of The Lid or AWVFTS.
Guitar sounds, static and field recordings are threaded in amongst the washes of electronics; on track 3 the watery feeling of the record is completed by the sounds of waves crashing on some distant shore. Lovely stuff, and one to get lost in when you can find the time. Limited edition (only 50 CD's were made) in a nice card sleeve with colour illustrated pages in a hand-stamped square red envelope.
