Áine O’Dwyer releases two new albums of church organ music, pushing forward from her recent triumphs into thrilling new territory. Gegenschein was recorded in a Limerick friary on a disused organ, and it explores the nature of an abandoned religious space with clusters of rich organ sonorities. Gegenschein is released by Penultimate Press.

9/10 Customer review, 11th August 2017

First rate organ abuse from Aine O'Dwyer. Recorded in a Franciscan Friary and inspired by Mayan predictions of the end of the world, O'Dwyer uses and abuses the previously ecclesiastical pipes to conjure up esoteric meditations and great surges of ecstatic doom. Equal parts Coil, an eschatological Terry Riley and unhinged Hindemith, it's a proper apocalypse in curved air.
