Kid We Own The Summer is H-Burns’ grandly melancholy synth-pop opus, a storybook of the American twilight. These songs feel like they could deeply matter to someone: maybe it’ll be you? Kid We Own The Summer is available on CD and on vinyl, with the latter format conveniently including not only the album on CD, but also a CD of demos too! On Because Music.

7/10 Richard Customer review, 27th March 2017
I really, really liked the last H-Burns LP 'Night Moves'. It managed to be both a heartwarming record with moments of gentle beauty, and also a damn fine indie-rock record, and tracks like 'Wolves' were instantly impressive.
Having listened to 'Kid We Own The Summer' four or five times now I'm still looking for that same hook, or beauty. It's certainly not as instant as 'Night Moves'. It's also a lot slower and a bit too sugar-sweet in places with gentle strings playing a key part. You may even detect Coldplay in among their sound although there is no overblown histrionics here. Tracks like 'I Wasn't Trying To Be Your Man' shuffle along nicely and paint a picture of warm summer days, but they just don't grab you like 'Night Moves' did. The closest they come to that is on 'Naked' which was the first track released from the LP (and can be seen in the video link on the product page). That's what made me seek this out in expectation of move of the same, but so far I'm still searching. Let's hope repeated listens eventually pays dividends.
