8/10 Jamie Staff review, 08 March 2017

William ‘Billy Boy’ Fritch has been at it again, mounting his expensive high-end camera onto eagles and then soundtracking the wide expanses they survey. He has some experience in this line of work apparently; for some years now the film and video output of the famous GoPro brand has benefitted from the sweeping strings and dramatic percussion Fritch has used to augment their publicity. WRF: haunting commercials since 2014.

This record, ‘Eagle Hunters in a New World’ is a document of the way of life of a segment of the population in Mongolia -- and, of course, those vast landscapes. It’s all here: sweeping strings merge with choirs then soar with the power of a Golden Eagle. Serene moments may feature throat singing and pipes. There are moments of sparse beauty to rival the mountainous grandeur of the Khangai. It’s the clearly defined aural equivalent of your favourite rocky scenes in your HD screensaver. Mightily impressive.
