10,000 Russos, a Portuguese band, offer up a live-in-the-studio session for release on the Fuzz Club label. The band are playing songs here, but they aren’t too hung up on song structure: loooooong droning intros are very welcome here. 10,000 Russos’ Fuzz Club Session is pressed to heavyweight 180g vinyl.

- Fuzz Club Session by 10,000 Russos
6/10 Clinton Staff review, 15 February 2017Let me do Robin’s job for him. Reviewing psych rock probably doesn’t appear in the worlds worst jobs but finding something new to say about it day in day out must be wearing even for a man like him who knows so many words. Not content with releasing actual albums by psych rock bands, Fuzz Club are now releasing ‘live in the studio’ sessions so you can hear the bits that didn’t drone as much on the albums drone even more and you get extra synth squiggles for your money. 10 000 Russos are a bleak nihilistic psych rock band improbably from sunny Portugal. They play dour endless drone rock with miserable impassioned vocals plonked atop. The drummer appears to only be armed with a floor tom and snare, the guitarist does plenty of testing out his effects pedals and there’s nothing even remotely close to a tune. But that’s not what we are here for. We are here for churning, pulverising psych four different shades of which are stretched out over this relentless vinyl. By the time ‘Policia Preventiiva’ arrived they’ve battered me down with their pulsating misery and I’m engulfed in their grey-toned world. Now, where did I put my flange pedal? I want to use it while looking at some concrete.
