This is the deluxe edition of the 'Infrared' EP by this soul star favoured by some of the younger people in the office. Here she collaborates with some like-minded folk (Kingdom, Prince Will) on some smooth auto-tune friendly R&B and to make things even more exciting this time they've added a bunch of remixes too.

7/10 Robin Staff review, 25 January 2017

Let there be a resurgence: here DAWN’s rather nice EP gets a physical pressing via Fade to Mind, much to the chagrin of my editor who Just Doesn’t Get It (I'm sorry, I only ever liked one Mary J Blige song - editor). Having teamed up with a far more ecstatic than usual Machinedrum for her recent ‘Redemption’, her songs here offer a slightly different and more ruminative version of a highly versatile R&B, using sparse backdrops to land big hits.

Opening on the liquid-ambient production of “Honest”, everything feels a little differently framed on this EP: the beat bubbles and reacts, rather than push into the more maximalist territory of late. “How I Get It” runs a sparkling synth melody over a wonderfully sleepy verse-chorus structure that’s rudely awoken by a thumpingly good bass line. Somehow DAWN manages to perfectly match her chill side with her more anthemic inclinations throughout this whole EP, the production shining but never overcooked.

This repress comes backed with more remixes than you can shake my editor at, from the likes of Leonce, Rizzla and the legendary Ikonika, among others. Get going.
