This woozy, hazy selection from past and present members of Manchester’s Horse Beach is certainly far better as a soundtrack to long summer days than long winter nights, but hey, good song craft is a business for all seasons. Fans of Real Estate and Mac Demarco will find plenty to love across the five tracks. This 7” comes with a bunch of nice stuff - poster, confetti, that sort of thing. Extra tracks included in the download.

If we were fearing that 2017 was the year that Box Bedroom Rebels would release a bad record then this one sure isn't it. Featuring members of wonderful Manchester janglers Horse Beach these are further explorations to the heart of 1980's indie-pop. If you like the Horse Beach records or anything by Felt or the Smiths then you are going to find much to enjoy here.

It has that classic melancholy indie pop sound with guitars set full on to the sad jangle setting. The vocals are slathered in the sort of reverb that can sometimes frustrate as it seems designed to simply hide them but the songs are all totally delicious.  'Sometimes' in particular showcases the sort of classic melody that will ache fans of Remember Fun who wish the band had recorded more than 5 songs.

So get on a train, stare out of the window and hope it rains because this is rather good indeed.
