Interstellar Funk presents Caves Of Steel, a hectic whirl of funked-up Detroit-style techno. In addition to the straight-up Interstellar Funk jams, this release includes a track with a guest spot by Jeroen and a wild n’ punchy remix of the title track by Convextion. Caves Of Steel is out on Berceuse Heroique.

Olf Van Elden’s latest 12” outing as Interstellar Funk comes packed with stellar, twinkling classic Detroitisms with a contemporary flavour -- *and* a bonus remix from Convextion, no less -- ‘twixt the grooves. And those grooves are storming. There are pounding drums aplenty on the EP’s title track, while ‘No Direction To Spacetown’ floats adrift the cloudy bounds of Saturn. It’s those spacey synths that get me every time.
On the flip, Convextion’s remix of ‘Caves’ gets low and dirty, slowing things down a touch to inject some grimy drums and sci-fi, ‘Stranger Things’ ambience. Impressively atmospheric. Closing track ‘The Strips’ fires laser beams across the starboard bow.
