Once & Future Band are a full-on throwback to the rich flavours of the great orchestral-prog-pop of the 1970’s. This self-titled debut of theirs sounds like a mash-up of all the nicest bits from all those bands, but performed with such love and skill that it all sounds new and fun. Nobody does this kind of music anymore anyway. Released by John Dwyer’s Castle Face label.

The debut album from Once & Future Band is a chimera of bubblegum harmonies and prog/electro-jazz flourishes in which they're not ashamed to indulge in their ’70s and ’80s influences. Songs like the opening track "How Does It Make You Feel?" and "I’ll Be Fine" prides themselves on big theatrical choruses, orchestral swells, powerful drums and synths that wouldn't sound to far away from bands from the 1970s, such as ELO and Queen. This album certainly has that theatrical feel, almost as though it's a long-lost rock opera. This is a vibrant, yet dark and unsettling debut that is ultimately full to the brim with grandiose psychedelia.
