8/10 Jack Customer review, 25th July 2017
For me the most impressive aspect of this release is that I believe it was incredibly savvy for the Stones to go into an unvarnished blues genre direction. For better or worse, the Stones are prisoners of their mega-success -- anything new they record doesn't compare well to what they did in their prolonged career apex. Their sound both echoes and extends the 5-piece/2-guitar loud power blues band approach pioneered by Muddy Waters. As a fan of the classic blues men, I found this record surprisingly fresh.
