One of them is in Ultimate Painting and Veronica Falls, another is in Toy and Pink Flames. Thus have we Foxhole, a record that abounds in sweet harmonies, clever songwriting and jangles galore that was put together between bouts of work with their other projects. Lead track ‘Memories’ is Lennon-pastiche par excellence. Vinyl and CD from perennially-good Tough Love (Let’s Wrestle, Cymbals Eat Guitars etc.).

Well I'm enjoying this but I'm cold where I am sat so I'm going to have to whip through it before I freeze to death. Proper Ornaments are duo of people from Veronica Falls and Toy and Ultimate Paintings and yes you are right they make tuneful krauty beat pop that sounds like a laid back take on the type of '60s influenced stuff that emerged out of the Elefant 6 stable back in then '90s. They also I assume have a 'thing' for the Beatles, both 'Memories'; and the lovely 'Just a Dream' have the kind of slowly descending chord sequences the fab four made their own on their more ballad like material. 'Just a Dream' also evokes that other Beatles obsessive Elliott Smith with his breathy voice and oddball chord changes all over it.
Proper Ornaments are a quiet band. You don't at any point get the sense that they are going to rock out. instead they sing in whispers and gently jangle their guitars over Ringo style drum patterns. In fact it often sounds like they are trying not to wake the neighbours but this gives the album a personal, intimate feel and throughout the run of songs there are some truly lovely moments in particular 'Jeremy's Song' which sounds like Wire playing about with Tobin Sprout's 4 track.
