Walkabout is a seminal work of 1970s Australian New Wave cinema, delving into the surreal landscapes of the outback. The master tapes of John Barry’s original soundtrack (which is, obviously, of a very high caliber) were thought to be utterly lost for years, but now they have been recovered and released! The vinyl release includes press material and stills from the film.

7/10 Jack Customer review, 28th July 2017
John Barry prior to this had been associated with scoring James Bond films, so this may of seemed like a bit of a departure for him, a departure that may of lead him to score some of his most important films in his life. Walkabout only covers about 27 minutes, the rest of the tracks are from various other movies. Walkabout was a movie that glorified in visual beauty and it would seem like a hard task for the music score to compliment the visual aspect of it, considering there is very little narrative but surprisingly it does a fine job.
