Foxygen Hang

I can't decide what it is I hate most about Foxygen. 

It could be their nod and a wink take on '70s songcraft. 

It could be how singer Sam France sounds like he's singing while taking a shit. 

It could be the fact that they release a song as bad as 'Avalon' a kind of music hall cross between the Lemon Twigs and the Glitter Band.

It could be that they sing in 'funny' voices.

It could be that they remind me of Ben Folds Five.

It could be that they sound like Ween with a sense of humour bypass.

It could be because they are smug.

It could be because they think they are being clever like Todd Rundgren or Sparks but get it hopelessly wrong. 

It could be because when they stop acting like utter twats for a second there's the merest hint of a good band coming through. 

It could be because people who don't know better think that this is what They Might Be Giants sound like. 

It could be any of these things but mostly the reason I hate them is simple. They are utter shite and have made easily the worst album of 2017.

This is terrible. I loved their first album. Their second album was poor in comparison but it did grow on me a little. With 'Hang', however, whatever they're aiming for they've missed my a country mile. I think that they are trying to make an album with a sense of humour, like Pavement could do with ease for example, and it falls flat. Silly songs sung in silly voices. It's genuinely awful and I urge you not to waste your money like I did. If their first album sounded like this I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been allowed to release two more.
