Bulging with acidic belches is the Split EP - a frenetic and swooping collaborative offering from the brains of Patiño (half of N.M.O. (Diagonal, The Death Of Rave, Where To Now?)) and No God Ritual. Rammed with a selection of frenzied synth bleeps, deranged arpeggios and eerie samples, this offering manages to be intricate whilst instinctively flippant.

It’s a split EP from Hypermedium! It features Patiño and No God Ritual, aaaaand… It’s a little bit mental. Righty ho then.
One half of ‘fluxus-techno’ outfit N.M.O., Patiño takes control of side A with his acidic glitches, belches and squelches. There are tinkles, bleeps and what, at one point, sounds like a warped recorder. Synth stabs warp, mutate and segue into ghostly alien voices and the whole thing sounds like an intergalactic game of ping pong. Or playful concrète, if you prefer. I may have just made up a genre. I suppose I’d better start getting used to that happening.
On t’flip side, it’s No God Ritual / Timos Alexandropoulos and his mutant dub. Here, that means more squelches transfiguring into partying aliens stuck within the spiral groove of this here record. Ain’t technology wonderful? Stop-start beats and fragmented, looping pulses carry the needle to the end and my headphones breathe an audible sigh of relief. Fucking great stuff.
