Soviet Soviet, who are Italy (as opposed to any post-Soviet country), release their second full-length album Endless. They plough a slickly energetic furrow, with several songs showing off that windswept epic-indie-swoop sound that people used to call ‘anthemic’. Released by the Felte label.

"Windswept Indie Swoop" said our description writer clonking the nail fully on the noggin'. Soviet Soviet are actually from Italy (never!) and produce the kind of dark swirling gothy rock that was made by men with really long raincoats in the early '80s. On opener 'Fairy Tale' the rhythm section is pure Joy Division whilst guitars are set to 'The Edge' and everything is cinematic and big. Elsewhere on 'Endless Beauty' and 'Remember Now' they get their fuzz on with some seriously distorted bass on the latter but the band retain an energy throughout with just a hint (a hint!) of Brian Molko in Andrea Giometti's keening vocals.
The production throughout is set to 'airport hanger' and the band keep up a relentless energy barely stopping for breath. Big mountainous music for fans of the Chameleons, Joy Division, Placebo and Interpol.
