Comprised of Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Miles Kane, Zach Dawes and James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco), The Last Shadow Puppets are a modern day supergroup. In December 2016 the quartet bring us a six-track golden nugget in The Dream Synopsis (recorded in just one day) - which offers fresh twists on album favourites, covers and unreleased cuts.

3/10 Clinton Staff review, 01 December 2016

"Separate the art from the artist". Something so-called fans of Kate Bush should think about before posting stupid social media statements.

Our Kate despite being an amazing woman and fabulous artist only had the temerity to admire a political figure who many of us don't. The Last Shadow Puppets though are actual dicks. Smug, self satisfied cock ends who are perfectly comfortable be-littling female interviewers and generally swaggering around like the offspring of Liam Gallagher and Tony Clifton.

Yet one of them is supremely talented and I've enjoyed large parts of both their albums to date. It's tough to live with. This EP however makes my job a little easier as most of it is fucking awful. It was all recorded in a one day session and pretty much sums up the defiant misplaced confidence the band seem to have. The opening 'Aviation' (taken from their most recent LP) is perfectly fine but after that things get very nasty indeed. There's a horrible rock swagger sung in French called 'Les Cactus' before music hits another low point with an embarrassing cover of the Fall's 'Totally Wired'. The less said about it the better. 'This is Your Life" is a song by Glaxo Babies and is so nondescript that I've forgotten it even happened and finally they force dear Leonard Cohen an early turn in his grave by smugly smarming the way through his 'Is This What You Wanted'.

2016 has proved that the worst things happen to the best people whilst absolute shits get what they want. Donald Trump, Ched Evans, Nigel Farage, Last Shadow Puppets. They are all the same to me.
