Kuro by Kuro

Kuro are a duo made up of Lyon-based Agathe Max, and Bristol-based Gareth Turner. Both of whom have more than enough extensive musical knowledge to create the progressive and intuitive record also called Kuro- a dark and deep mix of ambient and psychedelic sounds. It's not very often that the sound of a violin and a double-bass working together can conjure up the idea of what it would feel like to be sucked into a black hole, but that's exactly what Kuro do on their debut. Named after the Japanese term for 'Black', it clearly personifies the dark and sombre moods and drones that classically-trained French violinist Agathe Max and Gareth Turner (of psych noisesters Big Naturals and Anthroprophh) delivers on these tracks. Kuro is pretty much the perfect balance of menace and beauty, and once it draws you in, it's difficult to pull yourself out.
