Ruminations by Conor Oberst

Conor Oberst, aka Mr. Bright Eyes himself, has a new album of solo work. Ruminations was made according to the classic technique of sealing oneself away alone during the winter, and is a sparse affair involving Oberst and no-one else at all. Ruminations comes out on Nonesuch, with a nice poster slipped into the LP edition.

I am a longtime Bright Eyes fan but honestly haven't loved a lot of his recent albums.Glad I took a chance on this one because it is now one of my all time favourites. As always, the lyrics are phenomenal but the words are so much more powerful when it's just Conor, a piano, and a harmonica. It's rare to find an album like this, but a lot of times it comes from the artist's hard times. Not since I'm Wide Awake It's Morning have I wanted to listen to something so beautiful over and over from Mr Oberst.
