Glorious! There’s driving noisy rock, hi-fidelity pop joy, speedy krautrock rhythms, and moment of discordant spaciness. Italian trio My Invisible Friend push all this together into long expansive tracks that push the 18 minute mark and fuse the walls of sound of My Bloody Valentine with the pace of Neu!.

Bands come from everywhere now. At one time shoegaze just came out of the home counties of the UK but to the delight of the likes of our Ian it is now a worldwide phenomenon. Thank God then for labels like Fuzz Club to hoover it all up.
My Invisible Friend are a cute looking three piece straight out of Parma, Italy and this is their debut release. They must be absolutely oltre la Luna. There are three tracks the first of which is a churning slow moving slice of shoegaze psych with nods towards My Bloody Valentine, Galaxie 500 and Spacemen 3. It sludges along under a mountain of guitar scree, a drum machine vainly tries to catch up. 'Endless' utilises the same dreamy sound, Annalisa's vocals are dreamy and reverbed and combined with the glacial guitars and drum machine we're left with a kind of dreamier Cocteau Twins.
The final 'Sleepless' pulses with a Neu-like drive utilising the one chord drone of Spacemen 3's 'Revolution' It does nothing but pulse and it is perhaps on this track only that the lack of a drummer is felt as the drum machine bless it can't increase the intensity like a living drummer could. Still it's a nice drone and perfect for anyone who wants to zonk out for awhile.
