This is the first solo record from Cory Hanson, of the psych-rock band Wand. It turns out that, without the band back-up, Hanson is a rather sensitive folk voice, almost recalling some of the more interesting artists of the '70s. The Unborn Capitalist From Limbo is available via LP, CD and cassette editions, on Drag City.

7/10 Clinton Staff review, 10 November 2016

Ok so I hear that Cory Hanson is leader of Wand  - one of Robin's psych rock bands but here he is doing something totally different. And lo it is good. He's veered off in a very pleasant singer songwriter direction with baroque strings leading me to think of 60's great such as Colin Blunstone, Donovan and Robin's favourite Al Stewart.

Ok so who heards those couple of Jeremy Enigk albums that he did when let loose from the clutches of Sunny Day Real Estate? Well 'Replica' sounds just like this slathered in gorgeous string work. The sort of music that I want for a late November watching smoke twirl out of some chimney or other. 'Ordinary People' is that brand of winsome folk pop that was popular in the early 70's and sounds kinda like that album Pete Akin made with Clive James (yes that Clive James).

I'm going to have to leave you hanging there as there are only a few clips up online but this is very promising indeed.
